We know your journals are deeply personal, and we take their privacy seriously. Stoic is designed to be a private space—AI included.
What Is Shared with OpenAI?
When you use an AI feature like a Mentor or “Dig Deeper”, your current journal entry is sent to OpenAI’s servers, where it may be stored for up to 30 days to help ensure safety and prevent abuse.
- Stoic does not have access to your journals.
- Only the specific entry you’re working on is sent—not your entire history.
- This only happens when you actively use an AI-powered feature.
AI Follow-Up Prompts
If you have “Generate AI Follow-Up Questions” enabled
(Your Profile → Your Data), Stoic will automatically generate a follow-up question after each journal entry you write. These prompts are also generated using OpenAI and follow the same privacy rules.
You’re Always in Control
- AI features are enabled only after you purchase an AI subscription.
- You can opt out and remove AI features from the app at any time.
- You decide whether or not to use AI in your journaling.
We do not share anything without your consent. Your history of journals and all your writings remain exclusively on your device, or on your personal iCloud if you use stoic premium and have iCloud Sync enabled.
What Stays Private
Your full journal history and all your writings:
- Stay on your device, or
- Are saved in your private iCloud if you’re using Stoic Premium with iCloud Sync.
We never share anything without your consent.
