1. Can anyone at stoic read my entries?
Absolutely not! Your journal entries are fully private — no one at stoic can read them. They’re securely stored on your device and, if enabled, synced via your personal iCloud account.
2. Are my AI reflections or journal entries shared with anyone?
While no one at stoic can access your private entries, when you use AI features, your current journal entry is sent to OpenAI and may be retained for up to 30 days to provide the service and detect abuse. It’s not used to train OpenAI’s models. After that retention window, OpenAI deletes it (unless legally required to keep it).
3. How do I delete my stoic account?
Stoic doesn’t create a traditional account. Your journals live locally on your device and, if you turn on sync, in your personal iCloud under your Apple ID. There’s no stoic server profile to delete.
If you want to remove everything:
- On each device: delete the stoic app (this removes local data).
- From iCloud (if you enabled sync): open the Files app → iCloud Drive → find the stoic folder and delete it. (You can also remove stoic data from iCloud via Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage.)
- (Optional) Turn off any analytics toggles like Send Behavioral Data in Your Profile → Your Data before deleting.
4. How do I delete the stoic app?
Deleting stoic works the same way as removing any other iOS app:
- On your device, touch and hold the stoic app icon.
- Tap Remove App in the menu that appears.
- Choose Delete App, then confirm by tapping Delete again.
This completely removes stoic and all of its local data from your device.
If you’ve enabled iCloud sync, your journals remain safely stored in your iCloud Drive until you manually delete the stoic folder there.
To remove stoic’s iCloud data as well, open the Files app → iCloud Drive → Stoic, and delete that folder, or go to Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Storage → Stoic → Delete Data.
5. What is “Behavioral Data”, and is it private?
Behavioral Data helps us understand which app features are most helpful and most used — without any personal or journal information. It’s collected anonymously and can be disabled anytime in Your Profile → Your Data → Send Behavioral Data.
6. Is my data stored locally or in the cloud?
By default, your data is stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud Sync, your entries are safely backed up to your iCloud account, which only you can access.
7. What’s the difference between daily notifications and AI reminders?
Daily notifications are simple reminders for daily reflection or journaling, available to all premium users.
AI reminders are smart, personalized prompts that adapt to your habits and schedule, and are only available to users with an AI Premium subscription.
To see all notification options, from your home screen, go to Your Profile → Account → Notifications.
