How to Create a Custom Journaling Template in Stoic
Custom Journaling Templates let you design guided journals that fit you.
You decide which prompts to answer, what metrics to track, and how you want your reflection to look.
Whether you want a daily gratitude log, a deep weekly reflection session, or a quick emotional check-in, custom templates make it possible.
How to Create a Custom Journal Template
- Open Stoic and go to the Library tab.
- Scroll down to Your Templates → tap +.
- Add your prompts — type the questions or reflections you want to answer.
- Add scales or metrics — track things like mood, sleep quality, focus, or any other aspect you care about.
- Save your template — it will now appear under Your Templates.
- (Optional) Add to Favorites so it’s available in Quick Access under the main + button.
Editing Your Template
You can change your custom template at any time:
- Go to Library → Your Templates
- Tap the three dots on your template
- Select Edit to update prompts, metrics, or the layout.
Privacy
All custom templates are private by default — only you can see them.
In the future, we’ll make it easier to share them if you choose.
Tips for Building Great Templates
- Keep your prompts short and clear so you can answer them quickly.
- Mix open-ended prompts (e.g., “What’s on my mind today?”) with rating scales for easy tracking.
- Use metrics to track patterns over time (e.g., mood, sleep, energy).
- If you journal daily, create a Morning and Evening template for different types of reflection.
